I really like the picture itself; I find it very interesting that the designs on her arm are faded/smeared. I also like the effect of the background.
As for the art thing, don't worry about it. You just ignore them if they don't have any constructive criticism. You take what makes you stronger, and you stomp out the useless statements. I remember many of my friends were frustrated with my art teacher because their style didn't suit her taste. So you're not alone with this. The thing to keep in mind is there will always be someone out there to look down on your work, but you know what? For every one hater, there are ten appreciative viewers. That's certainly the audience you want to pay more attention to.
I'm sure your cheered up now, but just remember that the next time you're down!
