Art Chat is a series of double interviews that feature two artists alongside one another. The interviews, although separate, are meant to reflect artists that have similar styles-- but different techniques and processes on deviantART. The interviews are meant to be read separately but at the same time, it's hoped that you'll be able to take double the advice out of this! These artists may be well known or hidden gems-- whatever the case, I'm hoping that these interviews will be both interesting and inspiring!

:bulletblue: So first off: How long have you been drawing?
:bulletyellow: I've been drawing traditionally since age 3. Then I started joining one or two local kids drawing competitions per week from grade 4 till grade 6 of elementary school. Since then, I decided to have art as my career field in the future. Two years ago, the anime, manga, and digital era came to my life. So...yeah, here I am. :D

:bulletblue: What are your tools of trade?
:bulletyellow:Pencil and inking pens for quick traditional commissions, PS CS3 and an A5 Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet for digital works.

:bulletblue: What first inspired you to draw and what are the major inspirations behind your work?
:bulletyellow: More than 70% of my works are inspired by the music I currently listen to (I prefer listening to traditional Japanese instruments such as shamisen, western classics, and some J-Rock / J-Pop songs.) Besides that, personal issues, daily experiences, science, nature, or whatever I see-- or feel-- or get from real life may inspire me as well. ;p

:bulletblue: What is your artistic process? Do you start off with a sketch, thumbnails... or go straight to the finished product?
:bulletyellow: First thing first, I imagine what I want to draw in my head-- when midnight is the most productive and perfect time for it. XD Then I begin with the rough sketch and decide the composition while thinking about the color scheme to match the mood. If I'm happy with it, the work is on it's way to be finished.

:bulletblue: How long do you normally spend on your drawings?
:bulletyellow: Digital drawings with full background usually takes one to three days depending on the complexity (you don't say? lol), with approximately eight hours of work per day.

:bulletblue: Practice makes perfect! How do you practice?
:bulletyellow: Haha....this is kinda hard to be explained~ Actually I don't like to call it 'practice'-- even if it's not deserve to be called as an 'artwork'. I just call it 'fun work', where I just draw what I'm excited about at that time and hopefully it'll turn into an artwork at the end. :meow: You know, this can be done anytime and anywhere, which in my case, I always bring my sketchbook while waiting for the dentist. :dummy: So..how to say it...appreciate small things in life, be excited about it, and work it out on the canvas! The more your draw, the better you will be; no matter what methods or tools you use.

:bulletblue: On deviantART, who are your major inspirations? And for what reason?
:bulletyellow: Sooooo...so many amazing and inspiring artists on dA that makes me so hard to point out the names. However, one of them is yuumei, where she shows me that art is not always about the cool stuffs and beautiful things, but also about everything around you, your feelings, and how to cooperate them in your works so that you can share them with the world.

:bulletblue:Do you have any advice for aspiring artists?
Never be the first person who doubts yourself, because your ears, heart, and mind always believe the closest mouth, which is yours. Stop comparing your works with others', every work is unique, and that's why we call it 'art'. ;p

:bulletblue: So, last question! For the future, what would you like to accomplish with your art? (This can be either professional or personal)
Most of my works consist of my 'Virtual World' project, which I aim to make into a game in the future. I'm open to suggestions and opinions, such as what you want to experience in the game, because I want to make it not only for entertainment purpose, but also for inspiring and educating others.

:bulletblue: So first off: How long have you been drawing?
:bulletyellow: Well, I remember , I started to draw  with my two older sisters when I was a little kid, and then I started seriously drawing and painting in computer about 6 years ago.

:bulletblue: What are your tools of trade?
:bulletyellow: I usually used the basic tool such as sketchbook pencil and eraser , for sketch first idea. Actually the tools I used for finish work are computer and tablet.

:bulletblue: What first inspired you to draw and what are the major inspirations behind your work?
:bulletyellow: My first insping to draw is Grand Youkan(SR),who is the Korean illustrator , illustrated game name ragnarok online for a while. At that time, I've a dream to become the great artist and the fantasy game illustrator like SR . That just my day dream which make the first move in my life. I think its ok to keep try for  the goal. The major inspirations behind my work.  Hmm.. This question is really hard for me. As you see,  Most of my works  comes from my original story, As you think. I'm an original madness.LOL
Finally, I think the main inspirations behind my works are my love in  original of design and concept , and then include with the first inspiring and something I really interesting  in cartoon, fantasy, art master style from Europe in classic era and photo art.

:bulletblue: What is your artistic process? Do you start off with a sketch, thumbnails... or go straight to the finished product?
:bulletyellow: Firstly I like to imagine something fun which I want to draw. When I can catch a concept in my mind clearly, then I start to sketch roughly in my computer and finish it all by  SAI and Photoshop
But if it is the big project, I'll sketch by thumbnails first. Next step I will improve and develop  the sketch in sketchbook.  The final development will be by computer and finish the whole drawing.

:bulletblue: How long do you normally spend on your drawings?
:bulletyellow: About  3 -5 days. I'm slow guy.

:bulletblue: Practice makes perfect! How do you practice?
:bulletyellow: I always stuck my sketchbook with my side, when I have free time I'll try to draw something different. If I have a problem as I can't draw, I'll find the real model or the photograph for drawing practice. When I've time to travel, I'll see around for searching interesting thing or notice the beautiful nature for my new inspiration.

:bulletblue: On deviantART, who are your major inspirations? And for what reason?
:bulletyellow: Tahra, I keep watching  him for many years.  Well,I can't give a good reason.I just love his style.

:bulletblue: Do you have any advice for aspiring artists?
:bulletyellow: Keep drawing and keep drawing. Try to touch your imagination. Love and proud your work.  Although sometime it not good and make you fed up but every time you try to create something is not useless. Move a little step to step. Keep listen to the professionals and look around the world, After that some day will be your turn.  Never copy or steal other people's work.

:bulletblue: So, last question! For the future, what would you like to accomplish with your art? (This can be either professional or personal)
:bulletyellow: I want to be number one! just kidding LOL. In reality  I want to improve my style and be accepted. I want to design the concept for fantasy game or fantasy movie. At last, I'll make my own story artbook for other people who will be happy with me. That's all.
